Not much to post this week, been kind of quiet here. My computer has been having issues, so haven't really been on a lot. Judi came in from CA (YEAH!!) and the girls are at a SDV this weekend. The Humane Society celebrated their 1 year anniversary with a birthday bash last night. Had a pretty good turn out. Lots of food, wine and good people.
I'm going to sign up for the Mutt Strut in September with Jersey (aka Whiskey). This is going to be a fun fund raiser so I'm looking for ideas on how to raise fund, was thinking of maybe auctioning off a piece from CJ Creations. Anyone have any suggestions? Also looking for sponsors or donations, so feel free to sponsor me. Think it's going to be a fun day. Well, off to Petsmart today.

Whiskey
I've been asked to give more details about our new addition Whiskey. In an earlier post I said a little about him, but here's some more details. I met Whiskey at our adoption event we had last weekend. He was the most quietest, definitely not a "look at me" dog, so he was overlooked. I learned that his former owners decided to surrender him after not being able to keep him in their electrical fence. Personally, I don't think those things work to well. From the paperwork we received, he was vetted and cared for very well, so I can't see why he would be given up for that.
So far, he seems to be very well adjusted, he and Nick are getting along pretty well, Nick does get a little jealous. He's very sweet natured, and lots of energy lol Knows some basic commands like sit, stay, come, shake, so he seems pretty smart too. Here are some more pictures that I took, you can see how comfortable he is already.

Our New Addition
After falling in love this past week, thought it was only fair to give this awesome guy a fighting chance. Whiskey is now a part of our family!! He's so much like Nick, very laid back, couldn't care less about the cat and just likes to chill. Just hope Risa likes him. lol

7 Random Facts About Me!
I was tagged by Judi.
1. I'm a sucker for an underdog. You know, the runt of the litter, the last kid picked when kids are choosing "sides", just something about them tugs at my heart strings.
2. I'm a big marshmallow inside, wear my heart on my sleeve, get my feelings hurt....WAY to easily lol I've tried to be different, but I can't.
3. I love old "beach" music. Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, back in that era.
4. I believe people come into our lives for a reason, season or a lifetime. The memories and the knowledge that we take with us, all has a purpose.
5. Dr Pepper is my drink of choice, and I need to seriously stop drinking so much of it because I'm putting on soooo much weight.
6. I love to read, anything! Started years and years ago, and to this day still love it. If I can't find a book to read, a newspaper, magazine, the back of a cereal box is good lol
7. My family means EVERYTHING to me. I hate that we're not closer in distance, and sometimes in feelings. But I know and hope they do, that there isn't anything in the world that I wouldn't do for any of them. Cause in the end, family is ALL that you have. Love you all!

Adoption Event
Today we had another adoption event at the Humane Society. Yes Judi, I forgot my camera....again! lol Wish I wouldn't have tho, they had some great dogs and cats out there today. We ended up taking 5 adult dogs, 4 puppies, 4 cats and a parakeet...honestly, who can't take care of a parakeet? Anyways, all of the puppies, 3 out of the 5 dogs, and the parakeet all got adopted!!! Woo Hoo!! It's really hard tho, I get so attached to them in such a short period of time. I just have to remember what one of the other volunteers said...Saving lives, one animal at a time. Of course, there was one that totally captured my heart. Whiskey man, what an awesome guy. 3 years old, beautiful guy, well mannered. He was "surrendered" because he wouldn't stay inside the invisible fence. Duh?!?!?! So you're going to give up a dog cause you can't keep him in the yard?? What is wrong with people. Hopefully he'll find a new home, with a better family who'll love him forever.

Stroke Information
STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters.... S.T.R.
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim
within 3 hours he can totally rev erse the effects of a
stroke... totally . He said the trick was getting a stroke
recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient
medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the
'3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify.
Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The
stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when
people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke .
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke
by asking three simple questions:
S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE
(Coherently) i.e. It is sunny out today)
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks,
call 999/911 immediately and describe the
symptoms to the dispatcher.

to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked',
if it goes to one side or the other , that is also an
indication of a stroke.

I was in Wal-Mart buying a large bag of Purina for my dog and was in
line to check out. A woman behind me asked me if I had a dog...
(DUHHHH!!!) I was feeling a bit crabby so on impulse, I told her NO and
that I was starting The Purina Diet again, although I probably shouldn't
because I ended up in the hospital the last time. BUT, I'd lost 50
pounds before I awakened in an intensive care unit with tubes coming out
of most of my orifices and IV's in both arms. Her eyes about bugged out
of her head.
I went on and on with the bogus diet story and she was totally buying
it. I told her that it was an easy, inexpensive diet and that the way it
works is to load your pockets or purse with Purina nuggets and simply
eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The package said the food is
nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. (I have to
mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled
with my story, particularly a tall guy behind her). Horrified, she asked
if something in the dog food had poisoned me and was that why I ended up
in the hospital.
I said "Oh NO! I'd been sitting in the street licking my butt when a
car hit me." I thought the tall guy in back of the line was going to
have to be carried out.

St Baldricks
Another person who TOTALLY rocks is Bucks step sister Mary. She is currently a nursing student and is doing this amazing unselfish act of shaving her head for childrens cancer research. Honestly, is there one person around who can say that they don't know someone who hasn't been affected by cancer? The name of the group is the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Here is a little info on them...
St. Baldrick's is the world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research. Thousands of volunteers shave their heads in solidarity of children with cancer, while requesting donations of support from friends and family.

Our Trip
Well, we're back from AC. Didn't bring any extra money home, but we had fun. Of course, I had to find the stray kitties under the boardwalk, right? lol The last count we had was 20 of them. So many of them, and all different colors. Luckily there are animal lovers everywhere, and some group was taking care of them. Unluckily, I forgot my camera, as usual. I'm sure my sisters would fuss at me about that. I have to take the time to add another person who ROCKS to my list.....MOM, you TOTALLY ROCK!! Thanks for watching the kids.

Off to AC
Tomorrow we are leaving to go to Atlantic City. I am so excited!! We usually go a couple of times a year. Hopefully we'll be coming home with some of Donald Trumps money. ha ha ha It's pretty fun though, we get free rooms, usually get comped meals. Buck hits the blackjack tables, and I take my $20 and hit the penny slots. Time before last I won $260!! How exciting was that? Hopefully we'll do better this time. Maybe we'll have a sale on the etsy site if we win?!?!
